This product is used to treat mild to moderate acne. Salicylic acid belongs to a class of drugs known as salicylates. It may work by causing the skin to shed dead cells and by decreasing redness and swelling (inflammation). Benzoyl peroxide works by reducing the amount of acne-causing bacteria and by causing the skin to dry and shed dead cells. These 2 medications help to decrease the number of pimples that form and speed healing.
